This tutorial shows how to use a Jump to Spreadsheet component to direct participants to different versions of a task based on their response within the task.
The two different versions of the task are uploaded as separate spreadsheets: a Cats spreadsheet, which contains 3 trials showing cat images, and a Dogs spreadsheet, which contains 3 trials showing dog images. The main task spreadsheet contains just one row, showing the Trial display. On Screen 1 of this display, we ask the participant to choose Cats or Dogs. Clicking the Cats button submits the response 'cat'; clicking the Dogs button submits the response 'dog'.
On the Screen tab of this screen, a Jump to Spreadsheet component has been set up with two Destinations. The first Destination sends the participant to the spreadsheet Cats if they submit the response 'cat'. The second Destination sends the participant to the spreadsheet Dogs if they submit the response 'dog'.
The same method can be used to send participants to different task versions based on their response accuracy (by selecting 'Response Accuracy' from the Criteria dropdown), or based on any data drawn from the spreadsheet or saved to the Store (by using the Filter setting).
